John 12:13 says, "So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”
Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ’s entry into Jerusalem, when crowds welcomed him with palm branches and praise. Churches recognize it to mark the beginning of Holy Week, the final period leading up to Easter.
